![]() ![]() ![]() Developer Crystal Dynamics has been busy of late with AAA titles like Tomb Raider, but there’s always a shot, however slim, that they might go back to Gex one day. His last appearance, Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko (and G ex 3: Deep Pocket Gecko on Game Boy Color), was met with mostly positive responses from fans and critics, but the character hasn’t been seen since. The first Gex game was actually a 2D platformer on 3DO, but Gex: Enter the Gecko on N64 and PlayStation is where the character really began to resonate with fans. ![]() Taking stabs at everything from Titanic to The Matrix, Gex’s games had players platforming in environments based off of popular movies of the time, with a decidedly tongue-in-cheek tone throughout. Comedy being the key trait that made Gex special: the little talking lizard was funny, and full of personality. Satire isn’t completely uncommon in today’s video games, but when Gex came to N64, his particular brand of comedy was pretty different. This funny game is rated as a parody.Nintendo 64 Debut: Gex: Enter the Gecko (1998) Throughout the game, collect all of the remotes to find the unique joy of Gex. The actions that Gex can perform on his journey are to use the tail whip to attack, or to use it to bounce, perform a typical karate kick, and do not leave him hungry when his long tongue can catch the flies to eat. After convincing efforts, Gex finally agreed after hearing the bargain he would receive shortly afterward. They say that Rez appears again, and no one else, they need Gex to defeat him again. Gex was forced to go to their headquarters. After that, two government agents appeared. One day, when the gecko was resting through the only TV, the screen suddenly flickered and went off. Continuing with the previous version, the story continues with Gex retreating into hiding. The game is one part of the Gex series, with the main theme revolving around an adorable gecko. Gex 64: Enter the Gecko, also known briefly as Gex 64, is a platform game remade by Realtime Associates, based on the original Gex: Enter the Gecko. ![]()
